Attorney General Dave Sunday to Deliver York College Commencement Address

York College of Pennsylvania is pleased to announce that Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday will serve as the keynote speaker for the College’s 2025 Commencement ceremony. The event will take place on Saturday, May 17, at the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center, where more than 400 graduates will celebrate their academic achievements in two ceremonies. The first ceremony will begin at 9:15 a.m., the second starts at 3:15 p.m. Attorney General Sunday will speak at both.

Attorney General Sunday, a dedicated public servant and legal leader, has spent his career advocating for justice and the protection of Pennsylvania communities. His journey began with service in the United States Navy, where he deployed to the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Strike and later participated in counter-narcotics operations in South America and the Caribbean. These experiences laid the foundation for his leadership and commitment to public service.

Sunday earned his law degree from Widener University Commonwealth Law School. He later served as York County’s District Attorney, where he prosecuted complex and high-profile cases. As Attorney General, Sunday continues to champion public safety, address violent crime, and implement initiatives to support law enforcement and crime victims.

“York College is honored to welcome Attorney General Dave Sunday as our 2025 Commencement Speaker,” said Dr. Thomas Burns, president of York College. “His lifelong dedication to community service aligns with our mission to prepare students for meaningful careers and engaged citizenship. His leadership and resilience will undoubtedly inspire our graduates as they embark on their own journeys.”

Reflecting on the opportunity to address the Class of 2025, Attorney General Sunday shared his enthusiasm for the event. “I am truly honored to speak to York College’s graduating class. This moment marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for these students, and I hope to encourage them to lead with integrity, commitment, and purpose as they step into the future.”

York College looks forward to celebrating the achievements of its graduates with family, friends, and the broader community. The Commencement ceremony will be a significant milestone in the lives of students who have worked diligently to reach this momentous occasion.

The media is invited to attend both graduation ceremonies. Please RSVP to Director of Communications Julie Loeper by Friday, May 16, 2025.
