Story Time Birthdays at the library

Families looking for a place to hold a birthday party for their children now have a new option to consider, the library. Starting this summer, York County Libraries will offer a new service for the community, birthday parties for children aged 1 to 5. “Story Time Birthdays” will initially be offered at Martin Library in York and will expand to other locations as interest grows.

“York County Libraries knows that parents in our community are looking for fresh birthday party options that are age-appropriate and reasonably priced,” says York County Libraries Director of Educational Services Adrienne Scott. “Our birthday parties will combine elements of YCL’s already popular story time with a birthday party, complete with themes, decorations, activities, and most importantly, birthday fun.  We can’t wait to create a memorable birthday experience for toddlers and preschoolers in our community!”

York County Libraries will launch “Story Time Birthdays” with a preview birthday party at10:15 a.m. Monday, June 16 at Martin Library in York. Local parents and their children, ages 5 and under, are invited to attend the birthday party to sample the stories, activities, and desserts that will be part of the new service. There is no cost to attend the preview party, and registration is not required. According to Scott, there will be opportunities for parents to learn more about “Story Time Birthdays” and to enter to win a free birthday party during the event.

“We are looking forward to offering ‘Story Time Birthdays’. The library provides a convenient place to gather, and this new service makes it easy for parents to host a birthday celebration for their child,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert.

Families can book their party up to a year in advance and can select from party themes including animals/dinosaurs, princesses, superheroes, or trucks and trains. The base package for the birthday child and 10 friends is $230. More guests and other services including special entertainment and local bakery desserts can be added to customize the party. The birthday party service includes a dedicated party coordinator, special invitations for guests, and a gift for the birthday child. For full details about what is included and how to book a consultation and birthday party, go to https://www.yorklibraries.org/birthdays.
